Applications for self adhesive door thresholds

The peel-back strip on the underside of the door threshold reveals the pre-glued area. The adhesive used is industrial strength and ideal for high foot traffic areas of the home. Self-adhesive door bars are designed to stick to smooth, non porous surfaces such as laminate, wood, ceramic tiles, rubber or smooth, honed stone. If you have underfloor heating, then the self-adhesive or stick-down options are ideal, avoiding the need for any nails or screws.

Door bars style

Choose from a wide selection of designs, which are available in up to ten different finishes, including fashionable black, polished nickel and chrome and popular polished or antique brass. The Premier Euro and the Premier Non-Floating Euro door bars are designed for joining hard floorcoverings, where both surfaces are level with each other. Should your two floors be at different heights, take a look at the self-adhesive Premier Ramps, which provide a gradual incline from one floor to another.

Are the self-adhesive door thresholds quality-made or cheap aluminium?

We sell an excellent choice of self-adhesive door thresholds in the Premier range which are all made of solid brass and therefore extremely robust with a pristine finish. Each has a peel-off strip and the adhesion used ensures the threshold strips sticks permanently. There is a choice of ten fine finishes to suit most homes: polished, satin and antique brass, polished chrome and brushed chrome, black, satin or polished nickel, pewter and antique bronze. The most popular self-adhesive door bars are the Premier Euro (for Floating or Non-Floating flooring), plus the Premier Ramps or Premier 2 Way Ramps which both cater for a slight height difference between the two floorcoverings. There is also a new range of high quality, aluminium door thresholds, the Ali range, which are designed specifically for using with vinyl ‚All these are also self-adhesive. To look at the choice available select Self Adhesive in the Door Threshold and Trims section.

Where can you use thresholds?

They are designed to bridge the gap between two floorcoverings such as in a doorway, across a room, around matwell or to create an angle or trim on a small step. The door bar covers the raw edges of the two floorcoverings and hides any gap, creating an elegant transition from one floorcovering to another. Stick-down door thresholds are ideal if you have underfloor heating and are concerned that any screws or nails could pierce the pipes or mesh. They stick to the surface of the floorcoverings only and will stick to non-porous floorcoverings, including ceramic tiles, vinyl, wood, laminate, rubber and sealed stone. In addition, there is the Premier Compression Ramp is the one option designed to join a hard floor-covering to a carpet.

Do they stick to wood?

The Premier range of stick-down door thresholds and trims are designed to stick to hard floorcoverings, providing they are non-porous e.g. wood, laminate, porcelain, rubber, LVT. If the wood floor is floating (expands and contracts with atmospheric conditions) choose a door threshold design that allows for this, such as the Premier Euro Floating.

Do you have to use nails to attach the threshold strips to the floor?

Self-adhesive door thresholds have a peel-off strip on the reverse revealing a pre-glued strip; this attaches to the hard floorcovering, without any requirement for nails or screws.

How do you fit stick-down door thresholds?

Cut your door threshold to fit your requirements with its peel-off strip still attached. Make sure your floor surfaces are completely clean and dry, removing any dust or dirt before peeling off the protective strip. This will ensure a firm fix.

Do you do stick-down door trims for vinyl flooring?

The Vinyl Edge is specifically designed for LVT and vinyl floorcoverings and is made in solid brass and ten metal finishes. The Premier Euro Floating is likewise suitable for most situations.

Do you sell self-adhesive stair nosings?

Yes we do - there is a great choice of styles. Take a look at the five different designs in Premier Lips and the Premier Little Nose.
