Product Description
Stair carpet holders or replacement cylindrical brackets (only)
Choose from 10 quality finishes and 2 diameters
- Two sizes of brackets: suitable for your existing 12mm and 16mm diameter rods. See here to see a choice of stair rods including brackets.
- Stair rod holders are manufactured from solid brass and are available in ten metal finishes: polished brass, antique or satin brass, antique bronze, polished chrome, brushed chrome, satin and polished nickel, pewter and black. The colours shown are indicative of the finishes but these may vary batch to batch.
- Choose from Runner Brackets, Front Fix Brackets or Side Fix brackets (see diagrams).
- The cylindrical Runner brackets are hinged and hold the stair rod clamped in place; they are held in place with two screws and fix on either side of the runner stair carpet. The Front Fix carpet holders are suitable for fitted carpets which are full width and these clamp over the top of the rod and are held in place with two screws through the carpet. Meanwhile, the Side Fix eyes are also suitable for fitted carpets and screw into the stringboard or the wooden sides of the staircase but are not suitable for winder staircases.
- All stair carpet holders come in pairs and are supplied without stair rods. If you wish to purchase carpet rods with brackets please browse our range of stair rods.
- Should your stair rods be old, you may find they differ in diameter to those currently in the marketplace. A good tip is to cut some small pieces of foam to fill the gap and stop any rattling.

- We also sell high clearance brackets on special request for extra thick stair carpets. Please contact us to request further information.
Tips on fitting stair carpet holders
- The stair rod brackets are supplied with No. 6 screws: drill a pilot hole before fixing the brackets to the staircase, then drill a 4mm clearance hole for the screw shank. It is suggested for softwood: drill a 2.5mm pilot hole and hardwood a 3mm pilot hole. To avoid damaging the screws it is suggested you use a low drill speed.
- Runner rod holders: separate, by sliding the top from the bottom of the bracket to reveal the screw holes. Fit the bottom section first, and then place the rod in before sliding the top bracket section into place and securing with the supplied domed-head screw.
- Fitted carpet Front Fix brackets: place the rod on the stair carpet and place the Front Fix brackets over the rod face, screwing them through the carpet. We recommend that you leave at least a 25-50mm (1-2″) gap between the stringboard (side of staircase) and tip of the rod on both sides of the staircase.

Cleaning your cylindrical brackets
- These brackets have an invisible lacquer to protect them.
- Simply wipe clean occasionally, and do not polish.
- If you use any household cleaners to clean surrounding wood and paintwork, this should be applied to the cloth and not directly sprayed on the surface of the staircase, as the cleaner can react with the finish of the rods.
